Surface photosensitization of ZnO by ZnS to enhance the photodegradation efficiency for organic pollutants

چکیده

Abstract It is challenging to develop a material which has low cost, high activity, good stability and recyclability under light exposure. Apart from these properties, the photocatalyst should also have visible region absorbance electron-hole pair recombination rate. Keeping all this in view, we designed simple scalable synthesis of ZnO–ZnS heterostructures for photocatalytic treatment industrial waste ( p -nitrophenol methyl orange). The are synthesized via solvent-free route by thermal annealing solid-state mixture ZnO thiourea (a sulphur source) results core shell kind heterostructure formation. interface formation between favored band-gap reduction comparison bare ZnS nanoparticles. Further, were utilized as degradation toxic phenolic molecules -nitrophenol) harmful organic dyes (methyl orange) present water exposure (> 390 nm).
